GOT Carbon Footprint Report

We are publishing a report presenting the greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions inventory for the Gdańsk Tourism Organization for 2024. The document shows the organization’s total carbon footprint and identifies the areas where emissions can be reduced most quickly and effectively.

Key figures

- Total emissions (Scope 1+2+3): 59.29 t CO₂e
- Emission intensity: 1.26 t CO₂e / employee (with 47 employees)
- Energy has the largest share (Scope 2): 51% — electricity and heat
- 4 categories account for ~90% of the carbon footprint: electricity (26%), heat (25%), fleet (20%), business travel (19%)

What you will find in the report

- A breakdown of emissions into Scope 1, 2 and 3, as well as emission sources, including energy, heat, transport, business travel, remote work, and waste.
- A benchmark comparing GOT with organizations from the tourism/service sector, together with conclusions.
- A decarbonization plan: recommendations for actions that can realistically reduce emissions, including renewable energy, energy efficiency, transport, and travel policy.
- Final conclusions and priorities for the coming years, including a focus on energy and mobility, as well as monitoring after the change of headquarters.

How we reported

The calculations were carried out in accordance with recognized standards: the GHG Protocol and ISO 14064-1:2018, using IPCC guidelines. The organizational boundaries were defined using the operational control approach, covering 100% of emissions from activities controlled by GOT. The reporting period covers the entire year 2024, during which GOT’s headquarters were located at ul. Uczniowska 22 in Gdańsk.

What’s next

The report shows that the fastest reductions can be achieved through the decarbonization of energy and heat (Scope 2), as well as improvements in transport and business travel (Scopes 1 and 3) — these are the key levers, as they account for the largest share of emissions. At the same time, the document highlights the importance of monitoring after GOT’s relocation in 2025 to ul. Niterów 3, as the energy consumption profile may change.
